Jono’s Corner
As gamers we’re better equipped than most to stay in our houses for prolonged periods of time. Getting lost in a brand-new title, trying to improve your rank in your game of choice or completing Skyrim for the 12th time, there’s no shortage of options for us. Quarantine came out of nowhere, though, and our lives have changed so dramatically and so quickly that sometimes it can be tough. I love gaming, but I also love going outside! In this vein, I asked the team what they’re most looking forward to after lockdown lifts:
Adam
Socialising and pubs, webchats just aren’t as fun.
David
The travel to somewhere. The journey to seeing your favourite band play, the path to your favourite burger place in the city or the walk to the pub before the night out. The journey is where the anticipation builds.
Jonathan
Simple things like going and chilling in a café and reading. Also I am going to get soooo drunk and go out lots.
Kane
The flood of announcements that had to be put on hold due to the virus. Movie dates, game announcements, console launch dates etc.
Lucas
I’m most looking to forward to having the option to leave London, not necessarily even abroad, but I would love a country walk followed by a large roast dinner and cold pint with the family.
Madeleine
I think mine would be going to get bubble tea with friends!
Mahyar
Sport, The Pub, Korean food
Natalie
Leaving the country
Stefan
Being able to find delivery slots for my weekly shop… oh, and nappies for my boy that fit!
Yaz
Hitting up the skate parks again!
Training Manager’s blog
Hiring continues!
Contrary to popular belief employers are still hiring during the Coronavirus outbreak. Many of the roles we have been asked to assist on are now fully remote, with a view to integrate into an office when the time is right. With so much support available to make working from home as easy as possible now is as good a time as any to continue looking for a new job.
To help boost your application, consider including some of the below information, which has recently been asked for regularly by hiring managers:
Successfully working remotely requires good communication skills, good time management skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work alone while still forming relationships with the rest of the team. Have some examples to hand or highlighted in your cover letter to show you can fulfil these requirements.
Be sure to include tangible results on your CV. Because you will be working unsupervised, many line managers will be looking to measure your productivity based on results and deliverables.
As many of your interviews will be done digitally, ensure you have a camera for interviews and team meetings as well as a quiet space ready to go when you need to get some work done.
