Jurassic World: Evolution
Jurassic World Evolution is a business simulation video game developed and published by the team at Frontier Developments. The game was released on June 12th for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game is based on the 2015 film Jurassic World and allows the player to construct a dinosaur theme park with attractions and research facilities. The game features approximately 40 dinosaur species at launch and players need to build enclosures to contain dinosaurs for visitors viewing. There are many emergency situations that may happen in the park including power failures, unpredictable weather and dinosaur breakouts to name just a few. The players ultimate goal is to develop five star parks across many different fictional islands, each with different characterises and challenges, which will gradually unlock with sufficient park ratings.

The end of Q2 is often precluded by E3, and what a conference we’ve had so far this year! It appears that Microsoft have stepped up through the gears this quarter with some ground-breaking acquisitions announced at E3. For far too long have their fanboys made noise about a lack of exclusives; well they’ve finally been silenced… Microsoft has acquired no less than 5 new studios, including Ninja Theory and Playground games. We are definitely in store for some award-winning exclusives.
Ubisoft, however, were outstanding and possibly won E3 for me. It seems like just yesterday they announced the openings of Bordeaux and Montpellier and already we’ve got the jaw-dropping Beyond Good and Evil 2 in development, amongst others. Their conference was an amazing show. An ingenious move by Ubisoft to partner with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRECord and Elijah Wood’s Spectrevision for upcoming titles.
By comparison, was the Sony press conference which showed the 4 titles most were already aware of… unless you were following the livestream and then you got to see a host of others trailers including Nioh 2. It appears Sony have been focussing on a lot of VR titles including the much anticipated new IP by FromSoftware; Déraciné – a VR adventure wherein the player will take on the role of a fairy in this art-driven world.
Many of you may recall in October I wrote about the rise of VR; it appears that Sony’s recent focus has been in this field… and perhaps on the PS5. Only time will tell.
