Game of The Month – Days Gone

Days Gone is an upcoming action-adventure survival horror video game developed by SIE Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will be released on Friday 26th April for PlayStation 4.

In Days Gone, the player controls Deacon St. John, a former outlaw-turned-drifter and bounty hunter who prefers life on the road to wilderness encampments. The game takes place two years after a global pandemic occurred which killed almost all of humanity, and transformed millions of others into “Freakers”, mindless zombie-like creatures that are quickly evolving. The player can complete objectives in multiple ways, such as by using stealth or long or short ranged weapons. A dynamic weather system and day-night cycle will also feature, making “Freakers” weak and slow by day but fast and strong by night. Deacons main transportation vehicle is a motorcycle that can be modified with parts to enhance its speed, durability or manoeuvrability. You will also be able to craft new items to improve combat efficiency.

You can find out some more information on the game and order at You can also watch an interview with David Lee (Community Manager, Bend Studio) here – Enjoy!

Could this be the future of gaming?

Last month Mahyar and I spent the week at GDC. Amongst many of the companies we met with, we also got to see the Google Stadia in action!

While games being offered as a streaming service is nothing new; GeForceNow, PSNow and xCloud have been doing it, Google Stadia is stepping up the bar and offering consumers the chance to play games almost immediately, with no download required, by streaming directly from your browser to a device while using a controller to play.

Streaming entertainment companies such as Netflix have been doing this successfully for years, but haven’t had to worry much about latency and lag when playing competitive PvP. The idea is a solid one; housing the game and all its data on Google servers, with players connecting… but how fast will the game run if you haven’t got a sufficient connection? I guess the proof is going to be in the pudding… and I for one am willing to give it a go… Let’s hope the tech and infrastructure is up for it!

What are your thoughts? Could streaming games become the future we are moving towards?
