Game of The Month – Devil May Cry 5

We’re mixing it up this month as we’ve crested the halfway point of 2019. Instead of one game, we’re going to look back at the top 5 releases of the year so far.

5. The Division 2
Coming at number 5 is Ubisoft’s follow up to the 2016 hit ‘The Division’. This was released back in March and was received very positively by critics and fans. It did not perform as well on physical sales as most people downloaded the game – a sign of the changing preference for digital distribution, perhaps?

4. Resident Evil 2
1998 – France win the world cup, Microsoft release their 2nd best ever operating system, everyone has indestructible Nokia phones. A lot has changed since then, but people’s appetite for a good Resident Evil game has remained as Capcom proved with their reboot of the ’98 classic earlier this year.

3. Metro Exodus
Fans of the Metro series were thrilled to hear of a new instalment arriving in 2019. Published by our friends at Deep Silver exclusively on the Epic store back in February, Metro Exodus was received brilliantly and has since become one of Deep Silver’s most successful releases to date.

2. Apex Legends
EA’s entry into the battle royale craze came in the form of Apex Legends back in February. Reaching 50 million players in its first month, Apex’s launch will go down in history as one of the biggest and most successful of all time.

1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Developer FromSoftware (Bloodborne, Dark Souls) teamed up with Activision back in March to release this ninja-laden tale of redemption and revenge. If you picked up this game, you’ll know how frustrating and rewarding it is and you won’t be alone in admiring its beautiful execution.

Develop: Brighton 2019

We have officially past the halfway point of the year, which means we are heading into summer. And whilst the weather wasn’t great this last week, Develop: Brighton was! The conference was a huge success and it was great to see many indie titles being showcased and to get a chance to meet and network alongside colleagues.

Datascope were in attendance this year with nearly 20 official meetings taking place over the first 2 days… and a number of unofficial meetings in the evenings!
