Game of The Month – Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is an upcoming kart racing game developed by Beenox and published by Activision. It is a remaster of Crash Team Racing, which was released in 1999 and will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 21st 2019.

Like the original CTR, Nitro-Fueled is a racing game featuring characters from the Crash Bandicoot series. Players must avoid obstacles and navigate the various tracks to reach the finish line, using power-ups scattered across the track to give themselves a boost or hinder their opponents. The game supports quick races and grand prix circuits, as well as featuring a full adventure mode with new areas, characters and boss battles being unlocked as the player progresses. The game adds several new features which are not present in the original CTR game, including online multiplayer and the ability to choose different karts, which can be customised by the player.

You can find out some more information on the game and order at https://www.crashbandicoot.com/crashteamracing. You can also watch an interview with Thomas Wilson (Creative Director @ Beenox) here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6e_En-DXLo. Enjoy!

All the Es, bar Sony (so-neeee)

2019 as given us a fantastic E3, once again! With some amazing games having been showcased by our favourite studios, along with a number of celebrities who have been entering our industry… Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen for Death Stranding and Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand being the stand out ones I am referring to. It seems that celebrities adding more than just their voices to games will soon become common place.

But what does stand out is the lack of “physical” attendance by Sony at this year’s expo. I say physical, because really, Sony have been running their own campaign either side of E3 with their “days of play” on the PS Store, confirming PS5 specs before the start of E3 and of course they already offer a streaming service on PS Now. Given the majority of titles announced at E3 were not Xbox only exclusives, did Sony really miss out?

I can tell you that all their studios are heads-down and working hard on “something special”. And let’s not forget that the Japanese year-end runs until the end of March. Sony are well known for pushing out exclusive smash titles during this final quarter; from 2009 with Demon’s Souls, to God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Killzone 3, to Bloodborne in 2015, Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017 (to name a few) and finally – Final Fantasy VII coming in March 2020. Will the launch of the PS5 coincide with this? The PS2 (for Japan) and PS3 did. I guess we will have to wait till the Tokyo Game Show to find out more.
